How to Pay Your Fare

There are many convenient and flexible ways to pay for your ride on Sun Tran.

Farebox Tips

• Use exact change.
• Use U.S. currency only.
• The farebox accepts any combination of coins.
• The farebox recognizes all paper currency as $1.
• If you need a transfer, please ask the driver before you pay your fare.

Paying with Cash

The farebox accepts any combination of coins.

• If paying with coins, place your fare into the coin slot.
• If paying with paper currency, place your fare in the dollar bill slot.
• If paying for more than one passenger, please inform your coach operator.

Paying with a Monthly, Quarterly, College or Annual Pass

Follow the directions on the face of your pass. With the back of the pass facing you, simply swipe the pass horizontally through the card reader on top of the farebox from right to left.

Paying with a Stored Value or 2-Ride Pass

Insert the Stored Value or 2-Ride Pass into the slot on the right side of the farebox. The correct fare or ride will be deducted from your pass.

Buying a Day Pass

Tell the coach operator you would like to purchase a Day Pass, then insert $2 using any combination of coins or dollar bills into the farebox. If buying more than one Day Pass, please tell the driver so the amount can be verified. Please check the back of the pass to make sure you were issued the correct pass. If not, please notify the driver immediately.

Paying with a Day Pass

Upon boarding your next bus, insert your Day Pass into the slot on the right side of the farebox. The Day Pass is good for one calendar day and should not be shared with other passengers.

Using a Transfer

Insert your Transfer into the slot on the right side of the farebox.
