On-Board Surveys Coming to Tucson Transit Passengers, January 15

January 8, 2025
Sun Tran and the City of Tucson have contracted ETC Institute to conduct an on-board passenger survey across all Sun Tran, Sun Express, Sun On Demand, and Sun Link routes. Starting January 15 through mid-March 2025, surveyors will collect valuable data on transit vehicles to better understand how Tucson residents and visitors use public transit.

This is an opportunity for passengers to make a difference! By participating in a brief 10-minute interview answering questions about their travel behavior, passengers can help shape the future of public transportation in Tucson and surrounding regions. The data gathered will help Sun Tran and the City of Tucson improve future transportation services to better meet the community’s needs.

To ensure all passengers can participate, the survey will be available in Spanish, and translation services will be available for other languages. Passengers needing translation assistance can inform the surveyor.

Surveyors, hired by ETC Institute, will be easily identifiable, wearing blue vests and official ID badges. They will conduct interviews during both weekday and weekend service, making it easy for passengers to contribute their voices.

These onboard passenger studies are typically conducted every three years to stay up to date with changes in the Tucson region, including shifts in demographics and household incomes. The last survey of this kind was conducted in 2022.
